Fibrain has introduced unique multimode PLC splitters to its portfolio. The MMF PLC splitters offer all the benefits known and loved from singlemode applications, such as large port count, compact dimensions, virtual insensitivity of the losses and split ratio to the operating wavelength or small sensitivity to the light source and modal excitation type. No more cascading of small multimode couplers to get large port count devices! Which of course also means no more problems with poor loss uniformity, which was always the Achilles heel of the cascaded devices.
Fibrain multimode PLC splitters are available in 1x2, 1x3, 1x4, 1x6, 1x8 and 1x16 types, and also as 2x2, 2x4 and 3x8 versions. Fibrain MMF PLC splitters are compatible with the standard telecom multimode fibers, from OM1, through OM2 and OM3 through OM4. For special applications customized MMF PLC splitters are available with non-standard core sizes, including hybrid devices to match different fibers on both ends (for example 50um on the input side and 400um on the output side). Similarly, asymmetrical versions are possible.
